Making your own blue and green lamp is an exciting DIY task, here are four steps for success:

1.Gather Materials:

A clear glass container (such as a vase or jar),

This process calls for water, vegetable oil, blue and green food coloring along with Alka Seltzer or other Effervescent tablets, and possibly glitter.

Fill Your Container:

Put vegetable oil in a glass jar until it’s three quarters full. Leave some space over the top.

Add several drops of blue and green food color into a different container.

Pour the colored water slowly into a glass container that is containing oil. As it falls to the bottom of the container, it will begin to mix with the oil and produce a separation effect.

3. Add Effervescent Tablets:

To add effervescent tablets of Alka-Seltzer break them into smaller pieces, then drop them in oil. Be sure to watch them fall to the bottom.

When exposed to water, the tablet begins to react with it by forming bubbles that transport colored water upwards through oil into its center and create an “lava lamp” effect.

4.Step Back and Enjoy the Show:

For a more extended display further Alka-Seltzer tablets can be added to increase the speed of reaction and to keep the reactions going.

Experiment with various combinations of food colorings and adjust the number of Alka-Seltzer tablets to achieve your desired result.

Avoid breathing in the fumes or accidentally consuming Alka-Seltzer Tablets.
